| Size Comparison Shots for Frothers Discussion | |
![]() These are all very old school minis from Partha and Grendadier from the early 1980's (far left) to the early 1990's (right). You can start to see the scale creep (once base thicknesses are accounted for) from more of a "True 25mm scale" and more importantly proportion creep in the middle with head sizes and hand sizes to fit around weapons that needed to be thick enough to cast, before things started to stretch out into a 28mm scale on the far right with an AD&D piece from Dennis Mize. |

![]() Now we start dropping in Dark Sword and some other females from Partha in the late 1980's and early 1990's to show women all next to each other. You can see the 2nd and 3rd from the left look rather stunted next to the other minis. Dark Sword is #1 by Tom Meier, # 6 by Jeff Grace, #7 by Tom Meier for the Parkinson line and # 8 from Dennis Mize. Varied base thicknesses can be seen on the Dark Sword range which "elevate" some minis higher than others in the ranges, but they still fit in together on a rough n' tough level. |

![]() Dropping back in some males to show the 2nd from the right Grenadier Human Ranger piece by Julie Guthrie from the late 1980's next to the Jeff Grace GRRM piece (3rd from the right) to show how the mini itself is a good 10mm shorter but has a larger head. On its own, the Human Ranger piece from Grenadier looks really nice. But next to the newer models it looks more like a really short/stocky human or a slender dwarf mini. For the record - I have TONS of classic Julie Guthrie sculpts from her huge Grenadier body of work. They were stunning in their time and I kept them all. But from a scale creep / proportions discussion on this piece really shows how far miniatures have come since the late 1980's. |

![]() Now, we drop in the Rackham Fianna mini clocking in over 40mm tall even with 5mm taken off for her base. |
|
![]() Working in the very cool Reaper French Maid mini by Werner Klocke. She fits right in with Cersei (Dark Sword 2nd from the left) in my opinion as Cersei is rather tall in the books. |
|
![]() Working in Tre's Red Box sculpt (dead center) and the Jaime Lannister mini (2nd from right) to show some size differences and also show how the head sizes and hand sizes between Jamie and the old Grendadier sculpt are about the same, but we are now looking at a staggering difference in height (as Jaime is very tall) of almost 15mm. I did not color correct this shot. Sorry. |

![]() A final shot of assorted miniatures. I wish the detail on Tre's popped out more on the pic so her face could be seen better. Bare metal is super tricky to shoot. |
